Music As An Interpretive Art

Music as an interpretive art – is a form of self-expression.

It is an art form like no other. Made up of three important components: notes, phrases and dynamics. The written page of music is the canvas, so to speak, to which the performer adds shades of color to the notes that have been written by another composer.

Interpretative Art on Piano

A crescendo here, a staccato note, a rallentando section.

Each student is able to take a piece of music and see it, hear it, feel it;  by doing this “make it their own” as no other musician in the world would play it the way they do.  That’s the beauty of performing music. You have a sort of poetic license to become one with the song by playing it from your heart as all of the MTC instructors teach our young students how to do.
