Independent Projects Build Self Esteem

Confident KidOffer your students more then is just what in the lesson books. Students learn at different levels. We all know that by now. That being said, it is imperative to maintain a students interest by offering them a variety of independent projects to do.  Ask your students: “What would you like to do?” Allow your students to make suggestions to you what they would like to work on. It might be a piece of music that they know or it might be a composer that they have heard of. Too young to know? Make suggestions for them. From the Great Masters to Broadway to favorite movie themes. Any and all is acceptable.Why? It makes your students feel special and also energizes them.  And the utmost important reason is learning to play music has to be fun! If your not having fun, it’s not MTC!
